Is a Ground Zero Mosque really a derogatory term? At one time, Trinity Church, St. Nicholas Church, St. Peters Church were/are referred to as Ground Zero Churches -- even though they provided community services, memorials, and emergency aid to rescue workers. This is good food for thought. Is it really the nomenclature that is troubling -- or something else?

What is going on right now, is that the word "mosque" suddenly is a dirty word. It really shouldn't be. Nor should the combination of the two.

Editors of BPC.com, why are calling this a "Ground Zero Mosque?" You all live here. First, it is not on Ground Zero (World Trade Center site). No one visiting the site would be able to see it or find it easily. Secondly, it is a community center with an islamic prayer room. By using the incorrect terminology of those who seek to leverage people's fear, you are perpetuating those inaccuracies. Why don't you call it an Islamic Center located in the financial district?
